The golden age stands for a phase of prospering economy and thriving economy. Wealth was accompanied by a great deal of freedom and the uplifting of art to a branch of industry. In early treatises of art, a painter is especially emphasized who was able to gain much from all three pleasant aspects of life. Rembrandt-van-Rijn loved prosperity and dissolute life. As an artist, he loved the freedom to put his ideas into practice and benefited from the lively trade in artworks. The highest good was painting for the artist, which he lived out like hardly any other painter.

Amsterdam was a symbol of liberality, tolerance and unique cultural dynamism as early as the 17th century. Different languages were spoken on the streets and commerce was part of the city's identity. Rembrandt regularly moved to Amsterdam. His painting temporarily took on an entrepreneurial way of working. Be works reminiscent of large scenes of a stage act. The figures skillfully positioned and stand by skilful play of light in the center. The night watch shows this hell-dark game in perfection. The painting shows a daily scene and awakens the viewer the feeling of an evening gathering. Rembrandt implemented the painterly characteristics of the Italian masters and developed a masterful representation from them. Dramatics spoke of the paintings and he linked his characters with emotions. This becomes particularly clear in portraits in which he allowed his models to laugh.

Rembrandt loved the possibilities his talent offered him. He founded his own workshop to paint and paint. Not a few paintings of his students bear the big name. The painter earned well and invested a not inconsiderable part of his money in paintings by other artists. He also bought his own paintings. Rembrandt borrowed money in the hope of reselling it later for a profit. The painter lived in a complicated economic construct that left the artist penniless in his old age. His treasury was dissolved and produced paintings by Rubens and Raphael. The great painter ended up with painting and life in a rare time of freedom. © Meisterdrucke
