As far as the signs of this picture detach themselves from an abstraction, it is a beach scene, in the bustle of which mere brush marks pass into small figures in places, in places without any assignment of content. We recognize children, sunbathers, people in an unidentifiable ball game, a lady in evening dress with her admirer, the devil passing by as a jogger, and a fully clothed middle-class family of the present. Although dark colors dominate, this does not appear to the viewer; the scene appears cheerful and flooded with sun.
