The portrait Adele Bloch-Bauer I, also called "Golden Adele" as one of the most important works of Gustav Klimt. The painting shows Adele Bloch-Bauer at the age of about 26 years. It is an oil painting with extensive silver leaf and gold leaf overlays from Klimt's "Golden Period". Only face, shoulder, arms and hands are painted naturalistically. The background, the dress and the chair are only partially indicated, go into abstract surfaces and ornaments. Thus, no clear spatial orientation is possible, which is typical of Klimt's handling of surfaces, colors and shapes.
