Johannes Vermeer - “View of Delft”, c. 1660-1661
Art reproduction on canvas in a “Lily” frame
In this version, Johannes Vermeer’s “View of Delft” appears as a tranquil cityscape of exceptional clarity. The painting depicts Delft from the opposite bank, with water, a cloudy sky and the serene silhouettes of the buildings. In this work, Vermeer, one of the most significant Dutch painters of the 17th century, combines precise observation with an almost timeless atmosphere of light. The city does not appear narratively animated, but rather composed and expansive, carried by reflections, muted colours and the high sky.
The reproduction measures 58 × 48 cm and is printed on Leonardo (Satin) canvas. The satin finish faithfully reproduces the subtle tonal gradations, the tranquil architecture and the soft light of the original. The motif is mounted on a stretcher frame and extended in a mirrored pattern at the sides, giving the edges of the image a seamless appearance.
The work is framed by the Baroque ‘Lily’ decorative frame in ornate bronze. Measuring 58 mm in width and 30 mm in height, it lends the cityscape a classic, understated yet distinguished presentation. A concealed cord suspension system discreetly completes the design.
