Klee’s ‘Variations (progressive motif)’ feels like a picture that watches a thought as it takes shape. Shapes repeat, shift and interact with one another. Nothing stands completely still, and yet the composition remains calmly ordered. Paul Klee was interested in music, rhythm and inner regularities. This is precisely what is palpable here. The painting does not depict a scene, but develops a motif step by step, almost like a small visual score.
The reproduction measures 42 × 42 cm and is printed on Leonardo (Satin) canvas. The satin finish brings out the subtle colour fields, lines and transitions in a balanced way. The motif is mounted on a stretcher frame and continues in a mirrored pattern along the sides, so that the edges of the picture appear seamless.
The ‘Sinead’ frame in oak veneer echoes the understated, natural effect of the motif. Measuring 15 mm in width and 30 mm in height, it remains slim yet lends the square format a distinct sense of depth. A notched hanging system completes the design.
