The picture "A Way of Flying" was created by the Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco de Goya between 1815 and 1823. It is the 13th image of a satirical series that Francisco de Goya published towards the end of his life as Los proverbios (Proverbs). The series is an enigmatic album with a total of 22 prints. The difficult-to-explain scenes of the album are dark, dreamlike scenes that have been associated with Spanish proverbs and the Spanish carnival.
