Olive is a slender wooden frame with a maple veneer, whose dark surface shifts between anthracite, graphite grey and black-grey. The fine wood grain remains subtly visible, softening the colour’s harshness. The matt finish gently absorbs light rather than allowing it to reflect and dominate the foreground. In this way, Olive brings a sense of calm to the room and creates a clear, dark accent, much like a deep-green leaf amidst pale blossoms. The 20 mm wide and 20 mm high moulding has a flat front and an angular, approximately L-shaped cross-section. The recessed inner area creates a narrow shadow line against the image. This makes the motif appear precisely framed without being visually constricted. This linear design follows in the tradition of minimalist 20th-century gallery and exhibition frames, which were used particularly for prints, photography and works presented in a straightforward manner. We are happy to recommend Olive for botanical illustrations with fine contours or modern black-and-white photography. It looks its best when the image features dark lines, cool grey tones or rich shades of green. We also like to choose it for light-coloured rooms with natural textiles, ceramics and understated plant arrangements.
