Leticia is a slender frame made of solid wood, whose clean lines create a striking spatial effect despite being just 20 mm wide. The 25 mm high moulding has a stepped design: A slightly rounded top edge projects outwards, beneath which runs a recessed black groove, before a straight outer web completes the profile. This creates a subtle architectural transition that gently guides the eye inwards whilst providing stability to the picture. Black and dark brown dominate the brushed surface. Gold to old gold appears along the edges and in fine longitudinal marks, accompanied by a subtle patina. When viewed from the side, these golden areas glow subtly, whilst the dark areas remain calm. The shape is reminiscent of simple moulded frames for devotional images and small-format religious depictions, without being clearly associated with any particular denomination. In our collection, therefore, Leticia suits Orthodox icons just as harmoniously as Catholic images of saints. We particularly recommend it for gold-ground icons, where the gold is accentuated by the delicate edge, or for dark-toned depictions of the Madonna. It is shown to its best advantage when the image itself is rich in symbolism and the frame is deliberately designed not to compete with its ornamental splendour.
