Painting Frames "Emeline" |
| • Serie: Triest • Width: 30mm • Height: 19mm |
| Emeline is a slim frame made of solid wood, 30 mm wide and 19 mm high. The profile rises from the inner rebate via a subtle moulding to the central relief section and concludes on the outside with a delicately rounded edge. This gives the picture a clear, slightly three-dimensional border without the frame appearing heavy. The recurring leaf motif follows in the tradition of classical ornamental mouldings. Such leaf friezes were used to frame paintings and prints with dignity and to define the transition between the picture plane and the surrounding space. Antique silver and old silver alternate between light highlights and a dark patina in the recesses. When viewed in side light, the individual leaves stand out clearly, whilst the silver surface shimmers warmly and subtly. The antique-style pattern lends the slender profile a historicising, classical effect. We particularly recommend ‘Emeline’ for finely rendered portraits or atmospheric landscapes from the 18th and 19th centuries. The frame is shown to its best advantage when the subject features calm colour tones or subtle light-to-dark gradations. We like to choose it when a picture requires ornamental accompaniment without losing its presence. |
