The Coralie picture frame combines solid wood with a two-tone, brushed finish. Its wide outer border ranges in colour from ochre to antique gold and golden brown. Darker marks remain visible, lending depth to the surface without becoming overly decorative. In side lighting, the brushed finish stands out more clearly, whilst from a frontal view the colour appears calm and earthy. The 30 mm wide and 24 mm high profile is clearly structured: A largely flat, slightly rounded outer section is followed by a groove that slopes gently inwards. The lighter golden inner edge reflects the light more strongly and directs the gaze towards the subject. At the same time, the profile height casts a subtle shadow against the wall, ensuring that the frame retains its presence despite its compact width. This structure is reminiscent, in a simplified form, of Italian ‘cassetta’ frames, in which a calm frieze of profiled edges was set. Such frames were used primarily with panel paintings and architecturally separated the pictorial space from the wall. We particularly recommend the Coralie for atmospheric landscapes or contemporary abstract works featuring earthy, rust and ochre tones. It looks its best when the artwork echoes the warm inner edge in colour or deliberately contrasts with a cool blue.
