As one of the most significant pioneers of abstraction, the Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky wanted to give a completely new and unprecedented structure to painting. Among other things, he was an influential teacher in the art school founded in 1919 by the German architect Walter Gropius, who wrote art history worldwide under the name Bauhaus. Through avant-garde perspectives, the lecturers and students shaped modernity in different areas of life considerably and far-reaching. Kandinsky was a driving force behind this movement. His artistic interest was the interrelation of color and form and the visual impression of a painting that directly appeals to the viewer's feelings. He was strictly against the mere copying and reproduction of nature, and saw in abstract art the chance to achieve a transcendental transcendence. This spiritual vision is based on his paintings - including the self-contained "White Point". © Meisterdrucke
