Although Michelangelo Buonarroti always felt more like a sculptor than a painter, he painted one of the most impressive pieces in the entire art world: he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The most famous picture on this ceiling is called The Creation of Adam. Adam is trying to reach God on the left side of the picture, so he puts out his left index finger. In order to let Adam spill the spark of life, God stretches out his right forefinger, more powerful and graceful than Adam. Her fingers are almost touching. But you do not see them access or release each other. As they approach each other, the image could show the mutual longing of God and the people for each other. If they let go, it could represent the independence of humanity.
