Painting Frames "Margaretha" |

| Margaretha is a solid wood frame whose 68 mm wide and 55 mm high moulding creates a distinct spatial presence. The profile rises on the outside with a rounded edge, dips into a broad, relief-carved ornamental field and leads inwards towards the picture via several narrow steps. A delicate ornamental moulding frames the opening, whilst the red inner edge provides a surprisingly bold finish. Acanthus leaves, flowers and curving tendrils follow the tradition of Baroque frame designs. Such dynamic profiles were typically used for prestigious portraits, religious depictions and large historical paintings. Here, the deep modelling captures the light: raised areas gleam in antique gold and old gold, whilst the dark patina remains in the recesses. This makes the gold appear warm and vibrant, without a flat, uniform sheen. In contemporary spaces featuring exposed concrete, steel and clean joints, we are happy to recommend Margaretha as a deliberate contrast. The rich surface brings warmth and movement to minimalist architecture. It is shown to its best advantage when the wall and surroundings remain understated. In our own home, we would combine it, for example, with a Baroque portrait or a dramatically lit landscape. For very small, understated motifs, we recommend leaving ample space between the picture and the wall so that the frame and the picture can work together harmoniously. |
