Painting Frames "Hanni" |
| • Serie: Vilno • Width: 68mm • Height: 55mm |
| The Hanni frame is crafted from solid wood and, at 68 millimetres wide and 55 millimetres high, has a distinct presence. Its deep black is enlivened by traces of black-brown and dark brown in the patina. This allows the edges and raised sections to stand out gently, without the surface appearing uniform or smooth. The profile rises with a strongly rounded curve on the outside and leads inwards across a broad relief panel featuring floral tendrils, leaf motifs and acanthus designs. Several narrow recesses draw the eye before the golden, equally ornate inner edge frames the picture. The dark relief absorbs a great deal of light, whilst the antique gold and raised leaf forms glow warmly depending on the viewing angle. This composition follows in the tradition of Baroque frames, which lent portraits, religious depictions and representative historical paintings a sense of spatial depth and solemn presence. We particularly recommend ‘Hanni’ for portraits by the Old Masters or dramatically lit still lifes. In a period property, it looks very harmonious above a console table or between stucco mouldings. In a loft, it creates an exciting contrast to exposed concrete and minimalist furniture. In a country house, it looks its best against light-coloured whitewashed walls, dark wood and natural-coloured linen. We recommend giving this frame plenty of space, ideally as a single focal point. |
