Carolina combines a very narrow profile with surprising depth. Only 15 mm remains visible from the front, whilst the 45 mm high profile projects clearly into the room. This clean geometry frames the motif precisely without visually reducing its surface area. At the same time, a calm, almost architectural contour emerges from the sides. The wooden profile is finished with an oak veneer. The untreated, light brown surface displays a fine natural grain and remains entirely matt. It reflects very little light, instead absorbing it softly. Depending on the angle of the light, individual pores and lines stand out more prominently. Small variations in colour are inherent to this raw wood character and make each frame somewhat unique. With its narrow front edge and deep, rectangular structure, Carolina is akin to the functional box profiles used in modern gallery and museum framing. Such forms were used particularly for prints, photography and modern painting, as they create distance from the wall whilst still keeping the artwork clearly in the centre of attention. We particularly recommend the Carolina frame for minimalist architectural photographs or abstract works featuring calm, solid colours. It is shown to its best advantage when the material, subject and space interact in a deliberately understated manner.
