The Aleandra picture frame combines solid wood with a striking, two-tone finish. The deep Bordeaux red of the wide outer surface is brought to life by a brushed, patinated finish: depending on the angle of the light, darker red areas and subtle lighter streaks come to the fore. The inner edge is finished in antique silver and reflects light subtly, without overshadowing the artwork. The profile, which is 30 mm wide and 24 mm high, has a robust, rectangular body. Its top surface rises gently and tapers towards the picture opening into a narrow, slightly curved silver edge. This gradation draws the eye inwards whilst simultaneously providing the artwork with a sense of spatial stability. The shape is reminiscent of coloured gallery frames from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Such clearly structured profiles were often used to visually separate paintings and prints from the frame body by means of a light-coloured inner edge. We particularly recommend Aleandra for Symbolist portraits or Art Nouveau posters featuring burgundy, black or muted shades of green. It looks at its best when the subject has a certain depth of colour and the silver inner edge can pick up on individual light accents. For us, Aleandra is a distinctive choice for works of art with a warm, somewhat mysterious atmosphere.
