The Briton Henry Marriott Paget comes from a real family of artists. Not only he, but also his two brothers became famous as book and magazine illustrators.
Henry Marriott Paget, HMP for short, was born in 1857 and is still considered one of England's best known artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. He gained notoriety as a so-called "was illustrator" for the magazine The Sphere. In the course of this activity Henry Marriott Paget was inter alia in the Balkan War 1912/13 used. There HMP collected impressions for his later artistic work. HM Paget, as he called himself, was not only an illustrator, but also a gifted painter!
His pictures are influenced by the influences of symbolism and Art Nouveau. From 1874 the artist was a member of the London Royal Academy of Arts, the most important artist institution in England. His works were exhibited there between 1879 and 1894. One of his best-known works is Perkin Warbeck's pillory. With this, the painter worked up a piece of English history. Perkin Warbeck lived in the 15th century and gave himself as the son of Edward IV, for which he was executed in 1499. Another motive of HMP's work was Greece. Greek soldiers set off to Crete and the Greek retreat from Domokos is also one of the well-known works of the painter Henry Marriott Paget.
