Nestled in the idyllic landscapes of Engayrac in the Lot-et-Garonne department, a talent that would enrich the French art world was born on August 16, 1860. Antoine Calbet, an artist with an extraordinary ability to translate life and beauty onto canvas, set out on an artistic journey that would last until his death in Paris in 1942. With the same careful hand and attention to detail that Calbet used to create his artwork, we produce fine art prints that do justice to every brush stroke. After Calbet learned his first artistic skills in Montpellier, Paris became his playground when he enrolled at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts. Under the expert tutelage of Alexandre Cabanel and Edouard Antoine Marsal, Calbet developed his unique style and set out to become a respected member of the Société des Artistes Français. His artistic debut in 1880 was a success and the beginning of a series of exhibitions that further increased his popularity and reputation. His artistic talent was not only recognized but also turned into commercial success, a fact that makes our art prints of his works even more valuable.
Calbet's œuvre is a diverse collection of watercolors, lithographs and oil paintings, complemented by an impressive series of book illustrations. His distinctive style, masterful technique, and flair for detail have earned him the honor of decorating the Municipal Theater of Agen.
