Caspar David Friedrich also painted a beautiful view over a landscape, as it is known from many of his works of art. The viewer of the picture gets a wonderful insight into the nature and the life of the people. "Mittag" leaves open to the observer all possibilities to freely view and understand the landscape as well as the inhabitants of this world.

If you take a look at the painting, the group of trees immediately appears in the middle of the canvas. The approximately 20 trees tower high and provide plenty of shade. This is especially evident from the fact that below the trees no green grass seems to grow. A shade of brown dominates in conjunction with the dark shadows created by the zenith sun. If the view wanders farther into the background of the picture, denser and larger forests are visible, which extend under the blue sky over the entire background. While the vegetation there is only dimly recognizable and different shades of green mark the ground, it is more noticeable in the foreground. From the front right part of the image, a dirt road leads to the left and into the background. On both sides of this brown field path grow various herbs, shrubs and flowers. Especially in the front left area of the painting, these have been well staged.

However, since the day is also characterized by work and this also takes place at lunchtime, people are also perceptible. While on the left side of the field is a person who seems to be idle, there is a more active person on the right side of the picture. He does his job and drives the chickens around, so that they find enough food. At least let the many shadowy animals between him and the tree group in the middle of the picture close. "Noon" is therefore not only characterized by scenic beauty, but also by the work of the people and gives an overview of the beauty of everyday life.
