Thus, as it lasted for almost the entire fifteenth century, it is simply called "Quattrocento" in Italian, which is as much as the 15th century. In the German-speaking world, on the other hand, the Frühraissance reached a little later, about 1520. There it lasted for only a little more than 30 years, producing less famous artists and works than in Italy.
The frescoes are characterized in their representations, above all, by the beginning of the turning away from religious representations and motifs, which were still gait and gothic in the Gothic period. Instead, the themes of antiquity as well as contemporary secular themes were turned back. In addition, the technique of the central perspective is characteristic of the fresco style, invented by the architects
Filippo Brunelleschi and
Leon Battista Alberti. Painters such as
Paolo Uccello also studied scientific questions in perspective and developed them more and more. In addition to Uccello,
Sandro Botticelli and
Giovanni Bellini are one of the best-known painters of the Frühraissance. Botticelli's painting "The Birth of Venus" stands in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and is one of the most famous paintings in Europe.
